First timers to La Manga Club we booked for a short break last month as we wanted to explore the Murcia region of Spain. We had been told that La Manga Club was an established resort, over forty years apparently, so we thought we would be safe in choosing somewhere that has survived all the many economic ups and downs over the years and that we would find high standards of accommodation and public facilities.
We were not disappointed as that we found that the resort was immaculately maintained and everywhere spotlessly clean and tidy. The same can be said of the accommodation that we chose a one bedroom apartment in the lovely Los Olivos apartment. The apartment actually had two bedrooms but only one was made up for us with sheets and towels and we had the benefit of the space of a two bedroom apartment and the use of two bathrooms which was very handy. We had use of the indoor pool which is heated and was perfect for my early morning swims. We were able to walk everywhere around the resort and only used our hire car to venture off site to explore the surrounding areas.
We would have liked to have tried the golf and tennis facilities which were in close proximity to the apartment but were short of time on this occasion. We would not hesitate to return to La Manga Club itself for a further short break and would certainly recommend the Los Olivos apartments.
We chose a super three bedroom villa for our summer holiday and were delighted to learn that we had been selected for an upgrade to a four bedroom individual bedroom villa with private pool. The villa looked great from the photos we had been given but they did not do it justice as when we arrived we were over the moon with the standard, space and location.
The villa was so large and spacious with four bedrooms and four bathrooms so no queuing for the bathroom or squabbles in that respect. The standard of the villa was super and the managers on site were extremely helpful when we arrived and although we needed no further help during our stay it was good to know that if we needed anything we only had to make a call or pop into the office.
The location of the villa is just fantastic sitting on the edge of the championship golf course and with its own private spacious garden and gorgeous swimming pool it is a real dream. We thought that we might be a little out of the way in respect of the centre of La Manga Club as some of the large more prestigious properties are on the edge of the complex but we were delighted to find that we could still walk to all of the amenities and being on the golf course was very special, tranquil and picturesque.
We were thoroughly spoilt this year, many thanks La Manga Holidays, we will be back next year.
We have stayed in Bellaluz on many occasions and wanted to try somewhere different just really for a change but also for something a bit larger as we now have 3 children under 8 years old.
The La Colina apartments were a good choice for us as we rented a 2 bedroom apartment with 2 bathrooms which happened to be on the ground floor so that was good as our youngest is still not that great with stairs. It was decorated nicely and we had everything we needed in the kitchen to self-cater. We could not afford to eat out every day so this was important to us. We hired a cot for our youngest which was only a travel cot but we did not have to take any bedding as this was included in the hire cost and it was put in our bedroom ready for when we got there.
The groceries left for us on arrival were very handy so we could make a drink and some toast when we got there.
We went to have a look at the childrens club which was only a few minutes walk from our apartment and it looked like a good place to leave the kids if you needed to because you wanted to play tennis or golf I suppose but for us it was too expensive just for a little time off and for 3 kids it was out of our price range.
We feel that the price difference between La Colina and Bellaluz was worth it and we would love to return.
We were very happy with our choice of apartment this year. We chose a 2 bedroom Las Palmeras apartment which sits behind the large development of Hacienda del Golf. We had 2 bathrooms and with only about 30 apartments of only 2 storeys high we really liked the fact that Las Palmeras did not feel too busy around the pool or amongst the villas themselves. Being behind Hacienda also meant that we were a way back from the main road which we liked.
Very well kitted out the Las Palmeras apartment had everything we needed and was in good order throughout. The people we dealt with on site were great and when we needed their help with sorting out a broken kettle they were there replacing it within a couple of hours.
Within a few minutes you can walk to the tennis centre and lots of the shops, restaurants and cafes. My children love Uncle Sams, the American style diner, I suppose the thought of not having a burger for 2 weeks is a bit too much for them to cope with so we did go there a couple of times. Quite a fun place and the food is what you would expect with some good ribs and steak. If you are looking for a really super restaurant for a special treat then do try the Amapola. Apparently the chef is new and the menu is constantly changing so if you can arrange a babysitter then worth a visit.
I was really looking forward to our holiday in the villa we had chosen as it seemed like it would be in a nice quiet location which is what myself and friends needed after a hectic few months. It did not disappoint as Albatros is just on the outskirts of the many communities that make up La Manga Club yet within walking distance of most of the facilities available.
There are only a handful of villas which all have their own private swimming pools and the layout is like a cul de sac so no through traffic or people wandering by.
The views from the pool terrace are fabulous and the villa was spacious and comfortably furnished with all the home comforts you would expect in a holiday home. We were able to dine al fresco on the terrace and enjoyed the privacy of the villa.
We were not too far from the supermarket in the Bellaluz square but the better one in my opinion is the one in Las Sabinas centre a bit further away for us but they were happy to deliver so a large order was not an issue. It just has a larger selection of fresh meat and fish but Bellaluz was fine daily buys like milk and bread.
Overall we loved the location of the villa, the standard was good and represented good value for money.
We chose to stay in Hacienda del Golf as we knew the location was good next to the pitch and putt golf course and just minutes away from La Plaza which has some shops restaurants and banks.
Hacienda is large development with one large communal pool. It is sufficient but can get busy in July and August. We were generally very pleased with the standard of the property and paid a little extra for the games room which the children used early mornings and some evenings. Nice to have but not essential of course as they pretty much lived in the pool.
We have stayed in Los Naranjos before and Los Altos villas at La Manga Club and would go back to any of them again as all have something different to offer. I like Los Naranjos because there are only twenty villas and two pools and Los Altos because of the views and layout of the villas. Also having three pools you feel it is less busy.
Have to say that Canelas restaurant still our favourite but good to see some new additions this year and so much choice still available.
Having stayed in the Monte Claro townhouses before I knew that the location would suit us well and a villa with private pool located in the same road would be a nice change and treat for us all.
The villa was well equipped with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a downstairs loo and was spacious in all the living areas. I particularly liked the private garden and pool area and our contact on site was really helpful when we arrived, making sure we were fully acquainted with the villa and surrounding area. Of course we knew our way around but it was good to know she was there to help if we needed it. Lounging around our own pool was definitely worth the extra cost.
We spent several evenings in our favourite restaurant which has been there for many years, Casa Victors. During the summer months they hold a really good outdoor BBQ and their pasta dishes are great. It is a family run place and you always get a warm welcome and you are sure to find something you like on the menu.
We did discover this year that there is a Go Karting track not more than five minutes drive from La Manga Club, it is not Formula 1 but it is a lot of fun. It is on the way to Cabo de Palos which is a really nice traditional Spanish fishing village and also worth a visit to the Sunday market held there each week. The Miramar restaurant aslo in Cabo de Palos is worth a visit for some local Spanish cuisines and excellent fish dishes on the menu.
Great holiday had by all and I am sure we will back again next year.

Chose to stay in a Golf Bungalow this year mainly due to the fact that they sit right on the South Golf course at La Manga Club so the setting is just perfect. Very quiet location and because there are only about 20 bungalows the pool size is good and the area never seemed crowded.
I really like to fact that the large supermarket, El Arbol, is five minutes walk away and that with lots of other shops in the Las Sabinas centre our need for a good coffee and tapas for lunch is catered for.
All the golf bungalows have two good size bedrooms with two en-suite bathrooms, a small galley kitchen but it is more than sufficient for preparing light meals and well equipped.
With so many restaurants close by it was great just to be able to walk to them with lots of choice of different food available. With two small children the bungalow style suited us well without having to worry about stairs.
We managed to get a babysitter recommended by the on site management team one evening and went off to enjoy a great meal at the Amapola restaurant. The quality of the food was fantastic and we can certainly sing the praises of the new head chef. This is certainly the higher end of the price range at La Manga Club but treat yourselves, you will not be disappointed.
We have been going to The Run restaurant since it opened. We have always found the food to be good and the staff pleasant.
Lots of locals in there too which is always a good sign. We love the set meal menus, we do not have to think too much about what to choose, someone has put together great options for us.
We would like to recommend another restaurant on the La Manga Strip which we have been to a few times, San Remo.
The first time we went it was January and it was very quiet, to be expected I suppose. We had the speciality of the house of suckling pig.
When we returned in the summer it was lovely to be able to sit outside and enjoy a really nice lunch. The staff are very pleasant. It is tucked away a little bit so just ask someone before you set off.
