We only discovered Las Palmitas last year as its a small community of villas, about 12 in all.
They are very spacious inside and the quality of the interiors is very high which marble floors and bathrooms.
We liked the fact that there are so few villas and the pool is a great size for the amount of potential holidaymakers.
We were very close to the Bellaluz square which has a supermarket and lots of nice places to eat and drink. The supermarket delivers too so if when you first arrive you do a big shop then they will happily bring it to the villa for you. Staying in Las Palmitas means that you can still walk everywhere within La Manga Club. I would recommend you have a look if you fancy a change from your usual choice of accommodation.
Having stayed in this particular twice before I can highly recommend it as good value for money when you consider other large villas at La Manga Club. It is in a great location within the Las Brisas villas and is very large and spacious in every area and has a good homely feel about it. The pool is a great size for a large group or 2 or 3 small families sharing and a real plus was that we did not have to take pool towels with us for this villa which was a huge help with the mean luggage allowance we got from the airline.
The people who look after the villa at La Manga Club are meticulous and we have found it be to be spotlessly clean on arrival on both occasions. You can walk to all of the amenities and after we did our initial large shop we used the Bellaluz supermarket mostly as it was a little closer.
The tennis centre is a 10 minute walk away which was useful as the children were playing tennis each morning and we hired a tennis court some of the afternoons for an hour. They have taken part in the tennis school now on both visits and they absolutely love it. The coaches make it fun and it is an excellent way for them to make friends and to learn the game. Naturally they can not wait to go back.
We stayed in Bellaluz in the summer and definitely enjoyed the buzz of the Bellaluz village square which has several restaurants, cafes and a bar which shows all the popular sporting events. Our apartment overlooked the square and we were not bothered at all by any noise as we were also out late into the evenings. I would say that if you have young children it is probably best to opt for an apartment off of the square. There are many small blocks which surround it so plenty of choice.
Our apartment was very comfortable and air conditioned and we had 2 bathrooms which was a plus as there were 6 of us. The supermarket was just on our doorstep and we could sit outside on our terrace watching the world go by. I was very happy to let the children have a little freedom around the village once they became familiar with their surroundings.
Bellaluz has a great swimming pool which has a poolside bar during the summer months. We have explored all of La Manga Club but are very happy with Bellaluz having rebooked Bellaluz again for this summer. We look forward to returning and are counting the days.
We spent our holiday sharing with our close friends in a four bedroom El Rancho villa at La Manga Club. We have children of the same ages who get on well and to save a little on cost we decided to rent a larger villa rather than two small ones.
It worked really well as there was plenty of space and enough bathrooms that we could manage fine. The main dining area and seating inside was fine for breakfast and we did spend a lot of time using the outside dining area and terrace as we used the built in BBQ a lot. The supermarkets sell some great BBQ packs.
We lost the men to the golf courses on a couple of days and headed off on others to the local Mar Menor beach as its great for paddling and getting out the buckets and spades. Lots of places there to grab coffee or lunch. Most of the time we stayed around the pool that was the nearest to our villa although you can use any that are part of El Rancho.
We have rebooked again this year and secured our 5% discount, counting the days.
We were recommended to stay in the Monte Verde apartments by friends who knew that we did not like being in the centre of things and preferred the quieter areas.
It was a good recommendation as the quality of the apartments are equal to Los Olivos but the community is generally quieter due to it being on the outskirts of La Manga Club. We had a three bedroom apartment which had two bathrooms and the views were fabulous from our generous terrace.
We also had the use of an indoor heated pool plus the outdoor one but that was a little chilly given the time of year and not really comfortable to use.
Despite being on the outskirts we could walk to our tennis lessons in ten plus minutes and the supermarket in Bellaluz square was also walkable so we hardly used the hire car. I suppose in general a car is useful if you stay at Monte Verde, just depends on how energetic you are.
We would like to return and next time plan to take part in the five day tennis course.
We had been recommended to try the Las Higueras villas by some friends who have stayed in one before. They had two bedrooms but we found a three bedroom one for rent which gave us the extra bedroom which we wanted rather than put our three children in the one room. The price difference was worth it in my opinion for the extra space. The quality of the property was super and I cannot fault the service we received before and during our holiday.
We really enjoyed the whole set up at Las Higueras and the children absolutely loved having their own swimming pool. I really appreciated the fact that all the villa was all on one level inside, living in a townhouse at home meant a couple of weeks free of stairs.
My only reservation about booking the same thing type of villa again is that the children did not get the opportunity to mix with other children throughout the holiday. I think that a villa with a communal pool may have made my holiday a little more peaceful if they had made friends. They had each other fortunately but we all know how they can squabble. I suppose if they were old enough I would have felt able to let them go off on their own but we have not got to that stage yet.
We self-catered quite a lot and made good use of both of the supermarkets that are at La Manga Club. We did go off to the large supermarket down the road we were recommended to try if we wanted to do a large shop. It is a ten minute drive away but prices are good and you can buy a little more in bulk. Prices in the La Manga supermarkets were comparable to home I thought. We were able to order a few takeaways and did eat out on a few occasions. Eating out again was comparable to home with a good selection of restaurants that we could walk to.
All in all we had a good holiday and will be looking into going again next year.
Thank you for recommending the Monte Claro villa to us, it did not disappoint.
The children could take themselves off to the tennis centre and football course and enjoyed a little freedom from our apron strings. When we asked them to go the supermarket each morning to buy fresh bread and milk there was never any arguments as our villa in Monte Claro was close to the centre that had the large supermarket and so again we felt comfortable to let them go. We had no fear of letting them explore on their own of course laying down some strict ground rules regarding time and boundaries. The resort itself is secure and has a nice feel of a community.
Monte Claro villas are in a nice residential road and although we were right in the centre of things the area was quiet and private. Very spacious and with ample bathrooms we gave the en-suite bedroom / bathroom to my parents. The garden area was also lovely and we could just sit and enjoy the sun. The villa had everything we needed for our holiday and was a real home from home. We hope to return again next year.
The property was everything we could have asked for, for a girly weekend, the pool was on our doorstep, the views were beautiful, the villa was clean, comfortable and spacious. When we phoned the agents they could have not been any more helpful. The only downside (and it didn't bother us at all but may have an impact on some people), is the walk from the centre is all uphill, the only time we had a problem with it was coming laden from the supermarket, but then there is always a taxi :). There is a smaller (more expensive ) supermarket nearby.
Property was accurately described and was maintained to a good standard. It is an excellent location - being very central for both the tennis courts and the supermarket, and in fact a number of lovely restaurants. We would certainly recommend the property to someone else. The communal pool also worked very well, with the children meeting other children to play with.
My family consists of 2 adults & 2 children aged 5 & 6yrs, & we have just spent a week in the resort of La Manga Club. Although we enjoy holidaying with our immediate family this is definitely a resort to be enjoyed in a groups as there are so many activity options to be enjoyed.
The Property we rented was exactly as described, from the directions, to key pick up instructions, & property description. We had a villa with shared pool facilities, which was never overcrowded, even being the school holidays.
The location of the villa (Los Naranjos) within the resort was perfect, having 2 younger children we were centrally based with all facilities we required, supermarket, our pools, additional pool at the tennis centre, perfect for a change of scenery, numerous bars & family restaurants, within a few hundred metres. We wouldn't hesitate on recommending the villa & resort to all our friends & family.
It was the perfect resort for us to introduce our children to new activities as well as have plenty of time to enjoy the pools & relax. We think it would be even more action packed as the children get older & can participate even more.
There are only two reasons I have given a a 4/5 rating & that would be that the resort is very commercialised with no element feeling very Spanish, maybe this is just the nature of La Manga Club & I do realise that you come here for an alternative holiday experience, but we did hire a car to travel around the La Manga area to balance this aspect. The second reason is that we felt that there were no clear signs/instructions regarding using/booking etc of the club facilities. We did find out ourselves but this could be easily rectified by simple signs around the complex.
Overall the shear beauty of La Manga Club is breath taking to be enjoyed by all, even the none golf fanatics amongst us. My only regret is that 1 week wasn't long enough!
