It was great to get away this Easter and despite the chilly weather we still managed to enjoy ourselves.
The Los Altos villas are in such a great spot that we were able to walk everywhere. La Manga Club is getting ready for a new season now with all the restaurants open and offering new menus.
Was a bit windy on the golf course but that did not stop us from enjoying a relaxing break.
I had heard about La Manga Club from friends over the years so when we decided to go with the children and invite our parents it seemed like a good choice with something for everyone. We booked a 4 bedroom villa in the Los Altos community and a people carrier for the duration of our stay mainly because my dad cannot walk too far. If you are all fit and mobile a car is handy but not essential as Los Altos is in a great spot, pretty much walkable to everywhere.
It was the first time we had all been away together so it was important that we had space/privacy for the grandparents and we found that the villa had 4 good size bedrooms with ample living space so we could eat together comfortably. We ate out a lot of the time and often went into the nearby villa of Los Belones as we had the car, it is a little cheaper than La Manga Club itself, and there is great Italian called Via Romana. We liked to wander through the still very Spanish village and do a little shopping, stopping for coffee and pastries at the small bakery on the village square.
The nearby village of Cabo de Palos was also a favourite with us on the two Sundays we were there. There is a super local market selling great fruit and vegetables and everything else you can think of which starts early on Sunday morning, after which if you head off to the harbour you will find the best paella you can eat, al fresco. Really a lovely day and then back for a siesta of course.
We drove to the La Manga Club beach on a couple of occasions but the children preferred the local beaches on the Mar Menor because they are more sandy and low tides make them great for paddling. The fish restaurant is excellent on the Club beach but was a treat away from the children as the menu is not really geared up for them and with babysitters in tow we made the most of it.
Mainly we stayed around our pool as we had one very near the villa. We could have used one of the three available within our Los Altos community but we generally stayed around the one nearest to the villa so we could get to the cold drinks and ice-creams.
We had an excellent holiday with many memories we will keep forever. A great place for families to get together and spend precious time.
A delightful, well equipped Villa with every comfort and the splendid, not too small pool just a few steps from the back door. Everything clean and working and we had some super barbecues. Beds and Bathrooms excellent. Dinners on the Terrace overlooking the Mar Menor. Breakfast was on the back Terrace as not in direct sun. In all, highly recommended. The amount of heavy traffic near all the beaches and lack of parking is a drawback and of course we were high season. If you havent got your own, shade from the hot sun is expensive. Some of the prices in the Resort bars and restaurants were high and that applied specially to the Supermarket at Bellaluz eg one of those little packets of 8 cereals which Tesco has for 1 pound was 6 Euros. And wine double what the Supermercados charge in town.
We had a great time at La Manga Club this year. This was the first time we selected Los Altos and were really pleased with the 3 bedroom villa. The walk was a little steep from the tennis centre, but think it did us some good. The weather was excellent every day and made great use of the BBQ whilst enjoying the stunning views. These views are the best. We travelled to Cartagena, Portman and La Union and had a fantastic lunch on the marina at Cabo de Palos. We dis have a couple of dinners on La Manga Club, which were excellent albeit slightly on the pricey side. Thanks for arranging such a beautiful villa and hope to come back next years with the rest of our family.
This was our first time to La Manga and was simply blown away by the beauty of the resort and amazing setting. The facilities ere great and the Los Altos villa was fantastic. Well stocked kitchen and the villa was very comfortable.
