I was not too sure that I was spending a lot of money on something that would not live up to my expectations but I could not have been more pleased when I arrived. This villa in the El Forestal community of villas is rather special. The owners obviously take good care of it and I understand from the management people on site who look after it that lots of work has been undertaken over the past couple of years making it a real home from home with a luxury feel.
El Forestal only has a few villas so we felt detached and private from the others and the views from our terraces were great. It is so spacious inside with plenty of room for all of us to eat in or outside and the pool was lovely, well maintained throughout our stay. We could walk to Bellaluz for our day to day bits from the supermarket and it was nice to grab a coffee or bite to eat in the square there. We had done a large shop and stocked up at the hypermarket, Upper, at Cabo de Palos which is about 10 minutes drive away. Not really a hypermarket but a good size supermarket at everyday local prices.
The supermarkets at the Club are a little more expensive but you are paying for the convenience I suppose. Same goes for eating out, if you venture off site to the local village it is slightly cheaper but you would need to drive, so to have a choice of over 20 restaurants within reasonable walking distance was great.
Hoping to travel again with a group of friends and would certainly choose El Forestal again. With a group of you it would actually be pretty good value for the high standard of the accommodation.
The photographs do not do this villa justice as it is just so beautifully maintained and exceptionally spacious inside. I had selected the villa from several others on offer and as the person responsible I felt a little nervous before we all arrived.
No need to have worried because it certainly is special. The community of just a few villas in this area called El Forestal are all substantial and large and have great views from their terraces. Although considered as on the outskirts of the resort we were able to walk to everything, nowhere is too far, fifteen minutes at the most.
The road to the beach is close by but you have to drive to the beach as access is through the mountains so not a good idea to try and walk as it is steep in places. To be honest we only went once to the beach to try the fish restaurant which was very good as we mainly stayed around our lovely pool. All the restaurants we tried were pretty good, not cheap, but good quality.
Do go off resort to the Italian in the local village called Los Belones if you get the chance, Via Romana, really great Italian food at a good price. I suppose if you eat off resort you can expect prices to be a liitle less. We used both supermarkets on site and had lots of lovely BBQs. Overall we had a great holiday in a super villa, I made a good choice and looks like I will be in charge of selecting again next year.
