We chose to stay in Hacienda del Golf as we knew the location was good next to the pitch and putt golf course and just minutes away from La Plaza which has some shops restaurants and banks.
Hacienda is large development with one large communal pool. It is sufficient but can get busy in July and August. We were generally very pleased with the standard of the property and paid a little extra for the games room which the children used early mornings and some evenings. Nice to have but not essential of course as they pretty much lived in the pool.
We have stayed in Los Naranjos before and Los Altos villas at La Manga Club and would go back to any of them again as all have something different to offer. I like Los Naranjos because there are only twenty villas and two pools and Los Altos because of the views and layout of the villas. Also having three pools you feel it is less busy.
Have to say that Canelas restaurant still our favourite but good to see some new additions this year and so much choice still available.
Our friends suggested we go on holiday together and share a villa, first time we had thought about it but made good economic sense.
They had been to La Manga Club before and stayed in a Bellaluz apartment through La Manga Holidays. They found a four bedroom villa in the El Rancho community that they advertised which suited us perfectly and we had a really great holiday.
We would recommend El Rancho villas as they are in the lovely gardens and as there are lots of pools to share no villa is that far from a pool. The kids thoroughly enjoyed being together and we plan to arrange a trip next year. We will be in touch.

I had heard about La Manga Club from friends over the years so when we decided to go with the children and invite our parents it seemed like a good choice with something for everyone. We booked a 4 bedroom villa in the Los Altos community and a people carrier for the duration of our stay mainly because my dad cannot walk too far. If you are all fit and mobile a car is handy but not essential as Los Altos is in a great spot, pretty much walkable to everywhere.
It was the first time we had all been away together so it was important that we had space/privacy for the grandparents and we found that the villa had 4 good size bedrooms with ample living space so we could eat together comfortably. We ate out a lot of the time and often went into the nearby villa of Los Belones as we had the car, it is a little cheaper than La Manga Club itself, and there is great Italian called Via Romana. We liked to wander through the still very Spanish village and do a little shopping, stopping for coffee and pastries at the small bakery on the village square.
The nearby village of Cabo de Palos was also a favourite with us on the two Sundays we were there. There is a super local market selling great fruit and vegetables and everything else you can think of which starts early on Sunday morning, after which if you head off to the harbour you will find the best paella you can eat, al fresco. Really a lovely day and then back for a siesta of course.
We drove to the La Manga Club beach on a couple of occasions but the children preferred the local beaches on the Mar Menor because they are more sandy and low tides make them great for paddling. The fish restaurant is excellent on the Club beach but was a treat away from the children as the menu is not really geared up for them and with babysitters in tow we made the most of it.
Mainly we stayed around our pool as we had one very near the villa. We could have used one of the three available within our Los Altos community but we generally stayed around the one nearest to the villa so we could get to the cold drinks and ice-creams.
We had an excellent holiday with many memories we will keep forever. A great place for families to get together and spend precious time.
We booked our accommodation purely based on the fact that we were taking part in the tennis programme and wanted to be near the tennis but actually Los Altos was a good choice all round. Close to all of the clubs facilities you can walk almost everywhere and yet once in the villa complex you have a lovely quiet pool to relax around with all the things you need for a really nice break.
We liked the style of the villa, typical Spanish in style and decor and built in such a way that it was cool inside despite it being quite warm outside. I suppose in July and August the fact you have air conditioning is good to have as it must get very hot. The tennis centre was just across the road and so really good if you want to enrol children as its not too far for them to walk to, or if you are escorting them, you can be back around the pool pretty quick.
I liked Los Altos over El Rancho and Los Molinos as the community smaller and less busy and would definitely return.
The property was everything we could have asked for, for a girly weekend, the pool was on our doorstep, the views were beautiful, the villa was clean, comfortable and spacious. When we phoned the agents they could have not been any more helpful. The only downside (and it didn't bother us at all but may have an impact on some people), is the walk from the centre is all uphill, the only time we had a problem with it was coming laden from the supermarket, but then there is always a taxi :). There is a smaller (more expensive ) supermarket nearby.
What a fabulous holiday. We came as a family of 4 (2 adults & 2 small children), and shared the villa with our 4 friends (also 2 adults & 2 children), and the 8 of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The accommodation was clean and bright and airy with plenty of space for both families. We quickly made the villa our Home and could not have asked for it to be any bigger/better/cleaner. Just a 1 minute walk away was our Local pool which was plenty big enough for the villas it serviced, and the children had lots of fun there every day right on the door step of our accommodation.
Within the centre of La Manga, there is a much larger swimming centre. This was ideal as the very large pool is split into 3 sections, each section of the pool being a different water depth, so whatever the age/ability of the child, there was safe swimming available. Of the various restaurants onsite, we found Luigis to be the best with lots of choices for adults and children, inc pizzas, pastas, meats ect. We did not use the childrens fun club, however we saw the children out doing their activities each day, and they appeared to be having so much fun that we kind of regret not using the service! We would definitely recommend a holiday here.
A delightful, well equipped Villa with every comfort and the splendid, not too small pool just a few steps from the back door. Everything clean and working and we had some super barbecues. Beds and Bathrooms excellent. Dinners on the Terrace overlooking the Mar Menor. Breakfast was on the back Terrace as not in direct sun. In all, highly recommended. The amount of heavy traffic near all the beaches and lack of parking is a drawback and of course we were high season. If you havent got your own, shade from the hot sun is expensive. Some of the prices in the Resort bars and restaurants were high and that applied specially to the Supermarket at Bellaluz eg one of those little packets of 8 cereals which Tesco has for 1 pound was 6 Euros. And wine double what the Supermercados charge in town.
This is the second time we have been to La Manga Club and are so pleased that we chose Los Altos this time, the views were simply breathtaking. The walk to the villa was quite steep, although we could park outside. We could walk to quite a few restauarnts within a few minutes and the supermarket at Bellaluz was very handy. The villa was very comfortable and well equipped and have already recommended the villa to friends.
The property was excellent. A small thing at the start was finding the villa as the number did not appear to follow a sequence. Once found no problm and did not take from holiday. Pity the pool was so cold. Stll no problem in returning, view was amazing. Will be recommended to all friends.
