We went to La Manga Club earlier in the year and have only just got around to submitting a review. We travelled in March which was out of season for the resort and whilst it was very quiet it made for a truly relaxing holiday and it felt like with had a private swimming pool as no one else was around.
There are about 100 El Rancho villas built around good sized, but unheated pools. Each pool is shared by about 10 villas of different sizes and each of the pools has a small childrens paddling pool alongside.
We flew into Alicante Airport and picked up a car from the airport and made the straightforward journey of about an hour to La Manga Club. We arrived early and the villa was ready upon our arrival and it was a nice touch to have a grocery pack in the villa upon our arrival.
The villa itself was very pleasant and had a Spanish rustic fell to it and we did feel like we were actually staying in an upmarket Spanish community. There is plenty of space between the villas and they are have nice landscaped gardens. We were allocated a 3 bedroom El Rancho villa but had only booked a 2 bedroom villa, but it was nice to have the extra living space and facilities. The villa had 2 private terraces and one included a BBQ and outside seating area, which was a lovely way to spend an evening with a bottle of wine.
The villa was very well equipped and had all equipment and utensils required to dine in and prepare lunches and dinners. We did arrange to have a mid stay clean whilst we were there and the management company were very pleasant to deal with and were very helpful in recommending a couple of good restaurants in the local town of Los Belones and Cabo de Palos.
We did manage to play a couple of rounds of golf on the West and North golf courses at La Manga. However the green fees a little expensive, but the courses are of a very high standard and are both memorable courses to play. We could not play the South golf course as a handicap certificate is required.
We did wander off the Club a few times and found some lovely little restaurants on La Manga strip including Parador and Gregorys an Argentinian meat restaurant. We also found Via Romana in Los Belones, which was recommended, a well priced Italian restaurant. I think that due the high competition in the area the standard of the restaurants has to be very high for these to survive.
La Manga Club itself is very large and almost like a small town, with many restaurants, bars, shops and a supermarket. A car is very useful if you plan to go off the resort, although there is a taxi service available.
All in all a very good and relaxing break. It would be interesting to see the contrast in the height of the summer, when we understand that La Manga Club is much busier. We would definitely return again in the future.

A friend of mine recommended La Manga and loved it.
We discovered La Manga about 8 years ago just at the time when our four childen were at different stages and looking for different types of holiday. La Manga remains our number one family holday as there is something for each age group including tennis, gold pitch and put or just relaxing by the pool. The various restaurants in the resort offer excellent dining and equally the kitchens in the villas are stocked almost as well as that of a home, The generous capacity of the villas allow each person to have their own space.
Having stayed in about 6 different houses at different times, we never worry about what the next one will be like as all of the properties are excellently maintained and immaculately clean. The very friendly and helpful staff at th management are always available to help with any small difficulties or requests for information. We prefer to take a villa with a private pool but those with communal pools present an opportunity for children (and adults) to meet others if desired.
All in all, this destination ticks all the boxes and then some!
The house was nice and clean, well situated between 2 pools. Nice resort. Good service. We had a good stay!
El Rancho was a good choice for our family, as we were looking for a relaxing break in a warm climate with access to a good beach. The way the villas are set up you can allow your kids to play around the villa whilst our youngest was asleep. The most enjoyable aspect was returning to the villa in the late afternoon and just chilling with a cold beer or glass of wine on our own private terrace. We had a choice of few pools quite close to the villa and each one had a little paddling pool alongside. The villa was very well equipped with all of those little extras that make cooking a lot easier. We enjoyed our holiday at La Manga Club and would consider it again as a future holiday destination.
This villa was perfect for our stay and found everything we needed for our holiday. It was close to the swimming pool but also quiet and secluded. We definitely recommend this property to others and would like to stay there again. We did have a problem with the air conditioning but the maintenance guy fixed this the same day.
With so much choice of accommodation at La Manga we were a little unsure which one to choose. With a young family it was important that we had a good pool that included a childrens splash pool. We found El rancho suited our need perfectly, with a choice of pools and childrens pools to choose from on certain days it was so quite we had the pool to ourselves. The garden area gave the children a chance to play and we made good use of the BBQ - we had a great time.
