We went to La Manga Club earlier in the year and have only just got around to submitting a review. We travelled in March which was out of season for the resort and whilst it was very quiet it made for a truly relaxing holiday and it felt like with had a private swimming pool as no one else was around.
There are about 100 El Rancho villas built around good sized, but unheated pools. Each pool is shared by about 10 villas of different sizes and each of the pools has a small childrens paddling pool alongside.
We flew into Alicante Airport and picked up a car from the airport and made the straightforward journey of about an hour to La Manga Club. We arrived early and the villa was ready upon our arrival and it was a nice touch to have a grocery pack in the villa upon our arrival.
The villa itself was very pleasant and had a Spanish rustic fell to it and we did feel like we were actually staying in an upmarket Spanish community. There is plenty of space between the villas and they are have nice landscaped gardens. We were allocated a 3 bedroom El Rancho villa but had only booked a 2 bedroom villa, but it was nice to have the extra living space and facilities. The villa had 2 private terraces and one included a BBQ and outside seating area, which was a lovely way to spend an evening with a bottle of wine.
The villa was very well equipped and had all equipment and utensils required to dine in and prepare lunches and dinners. We did arrange to have a mid stay clean whilst we were there and the management company were very pleasant to deal with and were very helpful in recommending a couple of good restaurants in the local town of Los Belones and Cabo de Palos.
We did manage to play a couple of rounds of golf on the West and North golf courses at La Manga. However the green fees a little expensive, but the courses are of a very high standard and are both memorable courses to play. We could not play the South golf course as a handicap certificate is required.
We did wander off the Club a few times and found some lovely little restaurants on La Manga strip including Parador and Gregorys an Argentinian meat restaurant. We also found Via Romana in Los Belones, which was recommended, a well priced Italian restaurant. I think that due the high competition in the area the standard of the restaurants has to be very high for these to survive.
La Manga Club itself is very large and almost like a small town, with many restaurants, bars, shops and a supermarket. A car is very useful if you plan to go off the resort, although there is a taxi service available.
All in all a very good and relaxing break. It would be interesting to see the contrast in the height of the summer, when we understand that La Manga Club is much busier. We would definitely return again in the future.

As it was the third time we went there we new what to expect. Activities were great, restaurants are good but priced a little high toward quality but all that we knew before coming so all OK. We had a great holiday.
The photographs do not do this villa justice as it is just so beautifully maintained and exceptionally spacious inside. I had selected the villa from several others on offer and as the person responsible I felt a little nervous before we all arrived.
No need to have worried because it certainly is special. The community of just a few villas in this area called El Forestal are all substantial and large and have great views from their terraces. Although considered as on the outskirts of the resort we were able to walk to everything, nowhere is too far, fifteen minutes at the most.
The road to the beach is close by but you have to drive to the beach as access is through the mountains so not a good idea to try and walk as it is steep in places. To be honest we only went once to the beach to try the fish restaurant which was very good as we mainly stayed around our lovely pool. All the restaurants we tried were pretty good, not cheap, but good quality.
Do go off resort to the Italian in the local village called Los Belones if you get the chance, Via Romana, really great Italian food at a good price. I suppose if you eat off resort you can expect prices to be a liitle less. We used both supermarkets on site and had lots of lovely BBQs. Overall we had a great holiday in a super villa, I made a good choice and looks like I will be in charge of selecting again next year.
We chose to be a little way out of the centre of La Manga Club as we wanted a tranquil setting and one where we could sit on our terrace all day and evening admiring the views. You do have to drive to most of the facilities available if you stay in Buena Vista but you can walk to the nearby deli cafe which serves food and has a small supermarket for essentials, Mr Chans, the Chinese restaurant and Luigis the onsite Italian restaurant. If you like Italian though drive out to the nearby village of Los Belones, 5 minutes away and try Via Romana, great food but you would be best to book.
The apartment was well equipped for our stay and once we had stocked up at the supermarket we were able to relax and chill out for our stay. Particularly like watching the Club light up a night with a glass of rioja to hand. Some of the Buena Vista properties have a small private pool and we are keen to try one of those next time.

Loved Monte Claro and will definately be returning. We booked the property as a 2 bedroom villa but it is actually a 4 bedroom property and the other 2 bedrooms were locked. However this meant the living and oustide areas were very roomy for our party of 4 people. We tried a few of the restuarants on the Club and were all of a good quality. We also had a couple of meals in Los Belones and really enyoyed the Italian restuarant - Villa Romana.
Many thanks for a very enjoyable stay at La Manga Club.
Great Villa in good location. The villa was very much as described. It was in a good central location and close to the hub of the resort. We did need a car to get to the beach and some of the restaurants, although this seems to be the case for all villas on the club, as the beach at La Manga Club is quite a distance. We went into Los Belones a few times and found some great restaurants and would recommend Via Romana which serves some great pizza and pasta at very reasonable prices for the good standrd of food that is served.
The cafe in the square in Los Belones is a great place to chill and take in the atmosshere of a typical local spanish town. We really apprecaited the heated pool in the villa and enjoyed some great alfresco meals. We would like to return to La Manga Club next year and would like to choose this villa again if it is free, or a Monte Claro villa in the same area.
Everything was perfect. Yes, we were there for the downpour, and called the office as rain water began to come into the main lounge from the terrace. The drain was blocked on the latter.Someone came round very quickly and cleared the drain.
Yes, we have recommended the property to friends, particularly tennis players, as we play tournaments at the Club once or twice a year, and it is very convenient.
We did not have time for any activities other than our tennis championship. However we did go to dinner in Los Belones several evenings and especially liked Garnache and the Italian restaurant Via Romana, I think that was the name.
We had an amazing holiday in La Manga. We were very impressed by the facilities and made the most of the beautiful pools, tennis courts and fabulous spa.
I had a couple of treatments which were divine.
It is rather expensive to eat out here but having a supermarket onsite with reasonable pricing made the holiday more affordable.
Eating out is a treat with a number of restaurants to choose from - Tapas to a high-end restaurant in the hotel. I would thoroughly recommend a holiday here.
We normally stay in the El Rancho villas, which we have always really liked but this year we had our accommodation changed to a Los Altos villa due to a problem. However, after spending a week in the Los Altos villa we all agreed that we had fallen in love with these villas and would choose them ahead of El Rancho in the future! (sorry El Rancho!)
The villas are situated in beautiful, tranquil surroundings (slightly hilly, but we knew this in advance and it was never a problem!). The shared pools are much nicer than El Rancho, set in some beautiful settings! The only downside to the shared pools is that some families tend to be quite selfish and take all the sun-loungers; there were times when we couldn't even get 1 to share between the 4 of us! But it's so nice just to be able to step out of your villa and the pool is just there! My children certainly loved the opportunity to spend all day (if they could!) in the pool and one night went for a moonlight swim at 9pm!
The villa itself was beautiful!! Decorated to a very high standard and comes equipped with everything you can possibly need! The property was very clean and we all felt very much at home! The only thing I would say is that my husband who is a chef just couldn't get on with the electronic hobb which was very temperamental and didn't always want to work!
I would reccommend exploring the near-by towns - Los Belones is great for eating out with some lovely reasonably-priced restaurants and we discovered the beautiful fishing village of Cabo de Palos, which has some amazing local shops (their bakery is a must!) and beautiful fish restaurants along the sea front!
We enjoyed a thoroughly relaxed, wonderful holiday! We would love to return and would very much like to bring all our family with us next time!!
There were 8 of us when we visited Via Romana, we found the staff friendly and very efficient. We could tell the food had been freshly prepared and it tasted excellent, the portion sizes were well worth the prices on the menu. We were there on a Wednesday night and it was busy so if you were planning on going either on a Friday or Saturday it may be best to book. I can recommend this to anyone who is looking for an authentic Italian meal at a reasonable price.
